I think it is time that we all sit down and review the rules to this community. They are simple, easy to understand, but I don’t think anyone here has read them in some time. So we are going to go through them step by step.

Rule 1:each entry/post you make into sixwordstories should contain in it's entirety, no more than six words. Slight strike outs are allowed but don't over do it. The post goes over 10 words SIX WORDS including strike outs, you will be asked to edit it. If you do not it will be deleted.

Now that does this mean? 1) Your titles are not needed. There is not point to saying ‘ooc’, ‘meta’, ‘locked to [name]’. We’ve all been guilty of this rule break once or twice, but from here on out lets be more aware of what we are doing. 2) Four words in your strike outs. It is perfect for your ‘meta’, ‘ooc’ or any other title you could have put. But four words. Lets try to remember this, mm? 2) Just keep it to six. Enough said. That includes strikeouts.

Rule 2: Rule 01 means that your post should contain one story and one story only. if you have more than one story to share, by all means, make another post.

Yes! Make as many post as you want so long as you don’t flood the comm with one post after another back to back for ten straight post. However, there is nothing to say you can’t post once every 30 minutes. Generally, though, it is respectable to wait for one post to clear the first page before posting another. However, if you have more than one story to share? We welcome it.

Rule 3: do not use titles. ok? thanks. This means do not put anything in the subject line of your story.

Refer back to Rule 1’s explanation.

Rule 4: Fandom based content is welcomes as well as encouraged muse interaction both in the comm and on the individual journals. Get to know each other, make friends, have fun.

This is simple, yeah? It means play, have fun. Get to know each other, RP. Got to love the good times, yes? But let me add: There isn’t a limit to how many versions there are. And nothing ever says they have to play with everyone else.

Rule 5: Have fun. It's a free for all. Have at it. Gets too out of hand? Mods will step in.

If you can't help it and have issues with someone and want to rant? Keep it out of the community and take it to bad_rpers_suck it's what the comm is for. There is also rants.

Also if you are on the opposite end of that and want to praise? Again keep it out of this community and take it to fangirlingthing or good_rpers_rock
.

This one is my favorite. This is the one most abused here, and I think now is a good time for the buck to stop. If you have something remotely digging at other players here? It will be deleted. This is not a place to call other Rpers out. This is not the place to flame, start fights, or others vent your disgust for how another person here plays.

There are more appropriate places to do so. Places where if the player chooses to read, will see your criticism, but out of the way for everyone else. There is no valid reason for anyone to purposely seek out and try to bully, hurt the feelings of, or chase another Rper out of this community. This is an open forum that welcomes all skills, types, and levels of Rp. Unless they are harassing you? It really isn’t that hard to just over look a post, or a reply.

If a player is harassing you, let the mods handle it. It is what they are for. Let them handle the situation. If you can’t leave it at that, perhaps this community isn’t the place for you.

That's it. FIVE simple rules. We can all play nice, from here on out, or we can keep this behavior up.

A little innocent question here which refers to arguments I've read in SWS in the past. From afar. From far far afar :)

1) each post...should contain in it's entirety, no more than six words.

- some people say this means it can be LESS than six words. i.e. a post of one word, two words, three, four, five words is okay

- some people say it has to be six words EXACTLY (excluding strike outs)

Whichever is true (or if both are) could it be clarified in the rules?

The idea is to use six words. As such, one should think there should be no more or less.

The mods are currently debating rule changes, and we might have to clarify this in the rules themselves.

However the strikeout rule is currently in debate. there was some confusion between the mods on the decision made.

However, I will make a note that this is clarified. Thank you for the feedback!

Question on rule 5 (probably obvious, but)--

What if it's a character taking a dig at another character? Completely IC, no OOC malice intended?

I second this question actually.

I commented below but basically: Character digs are almost always easy to spot. Characters dig at each other a lot too. However, what we want to cut back on is the rampant OOC drama that has been cropping up more and more lately.

IC is one thing, OOC is something completely different.

Character digs are almost always easy to spot. Characters dig at each other a lot too. However, what we want to cut back on is the rampant OOC drama that has been cropping up more and more lately.

IC is one thing, OOC is something completely different.

Sometimes the difference can be hard to spot though? With people using IC as a way to disguise OOC problems. The Twilight fandom seems like a fairly current example of this, what with the apparent tension between canon pups and those written in a mock fashion. Both are certainly free to use the comm (and I am in no way affiliated with either side, or that fandom) but that sort of stuff leads to drama too. Maybe the rules need to be clear and resonant on this issue as well, with consequences clearly stated for if such a thread should disintegrate into blatant OOC drama, as it so often does...

We will work toward clarifying this, thank you for bringing it to our attention. Unfortunately, some of this will have to come at the discretion of the mod that answers the call. However, we will discuss this further and see if we can come to a more clear, pointed definition.

Thank you,
New Mod

We have updated Rule 5, and I would value your input on if this clearly outlines the OOC/IC conflict. If you think we've left something out, please let us know.

05. Have fun, but don’t start a fight. If you have a problem with a player/poster here in the community there are more appropriate places to take this sort of conflict or criticism. Please do not directly call someone out (within the post comments or the post itself). If you have a problem with a poster, PM the mods. The inbox will be checked regularly for questions, problems, or anything else that might come up. Any post that is called out as being harassing, or in violation to LJ policies will be deleted without warning.

However, for RP purposes, the thin line between IC character fighting, and OOC attacks will be handled carefully. This line is sometimes difficult to determine, but do not think we will not be paying attention. Muses that are continually brought to our attention might be asked to cease such posting, or find another home.

If you must rant and rave about a character, or a player and it is from an RP setting, do trying bad_rpers_suck. If you want to personally rant about someone else in the comm and it isn’t RP related try rants, or one of the other rant communities.

On the opposite spectrum, if you wish to praise an RP character? We ask that you try to keep it out of the community and instead go to some lovely places like fangirlingthing or good_rpers_rock.

I think you have the fundamental points there, yeah. I hope you don't mind me rewording a few things just to make them clearer. Also, since the rule has several parts, bolding and/or underlining the main factors might make it easier to read.

05. Have fun, avoid fights. It's simple. If you have a problem with a player or a poster (related to RP or not) here in the community, do not directly call them out within the post itself or the post's comments. There are more appropriate places to take this sort of conflict or criticism. If, for any reason, you do have a problem with a poster PM the mods immediately. The inbox will be checked regularly for questions, problems, inquiries etc. Any post that is reported and is subsequently found to be causing harassment or in violation of LJ policies will be deleted without warning.

However, with regards to RP, the fine line between IC fighting and OOC attacks will be judged carefully, on a case by case basis. Again, the latter will not be tolerated anywhere within sixwordstories. This line is sometimes difficult to determine but do not think we are not paying attention. Muses or muns that are continually brought to our attention might be asked to cease posting or find another home.

If you feel it absolutely necessary to criticize a character or a player, and it is from an RP setting, we direct you towards bad_rpers_suck. If you want to air personal issues concerning someone/something else and it is not RP related try rants or another appropriate community.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, if a player wishes to praise an RP character, we ask that you keep it out of the SWS community and instead go to some lovely places like fangirlingthing or good_rpers_rock.

Thank you! I'll be updating the community profile with this. Thank you for your question and input. :)

Just out of curiosity...is it okay to put notes in the 'location' and 'music' fields? Like...instead of putting 'Meta' as the post title, put like, 'Meta' in the location so you have a post that read something like:

'Mun needs to upgrade my journal.'

current location: meta

Or is it better to do something like:

'Mun needs to upgrade my journal.'
(meta)

Location and music fields are free to be used to define 'meta' or 'verse', yes. In fact, it is encouraged.

The added number for strikeouts is being removed due to rampant abuse from the comm.

Thanks, that helps clarify things. :)
