Fandom tags? Or no fandom tags?
Default
swsmod
We've been approached several times now about adding fandom tags, seeing as SWS is a large community and tons of post per day. So, we want your opinion. Fandom tags or just leave it how it is.

The good thing about tags is, sometimes people miss post from their fandom friends and this would give them the ability to find them easily. What this bored mod has been doing is compiling a possible list of tags to add. I'd love your input of what tags to have as well concerning fandoms, seeing as I don't know all of them. You can view them below the lj cut below. So leave your opinions. if there's enough 'yay's, then we will start adding them as soon as possible - (I'm going to give it about three days so that people can get their opinions and tag suggestions in.

Edit: clarity on the soon as possible: by this it intentionally meant: as soon as possible being when things are hammered out and a system is devised. and three days meaning: three days for people to get their opinions in (not three days and we're making a decision)

I think I'm probably speaking from the "opposite" perspective of everyone else as well. Really, I don't play in a whole lot of fandoms. My favorite muses are all original creations. So I often feel pushed to the sidelines by discussions such as this. I remember things like this being talked about in the past, and it really isolated people whose preference was to play original characters. Based on discussions in times past, it seems like most OC writers really don't feel like those from fandoms care to interact with them, and things like this seem at times to exasperate that frustration.

Just being able to have someone explain their frustrations with fandom play to me really helps me make better sense of this and why it would be a good option for a lot of people.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you've said. What I absolutely hate is that my original characters have found amazing groups of people to play with -- in other communities. sixwordstories feels a bit like my "home base" since I really don't participate in communities with specific plots or locations. I have a couple of other places I frequent, but it's sad to me that a community originally designed for the purpose of smut has given my original characters far better and more lasting connections than a community with thousands upon thousands of members.

Oh well. There are always going to be problems and things we wish happened a little differently. This post is an attempt to tackle one issue, and it seems like it's probably going to be a way to help a lot of people get more enjoyment out of the process.
